Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1/4 c. vinegar
dash of salt
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
2 Tbsp. butter
Preparation

Combine ingredients in heavy saucepan.
Cook over medium heat without stirring until it reaches hard ball stage.
Pour out onto buttered platter.
Let cool just long enough, until you can hold it in your hands.
Pull as long as possible (should be white when finished).
Twist into a long rope; let cool on wax paper.
