Date Nut Dessert - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
    2 c. warm water
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1/2 c. packed brown sugar
    1/2 c. milk
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 c. chopped dates
    1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Mix brown sugar and warm water in saucepan.
    Bring to boil and pour in 8 x 5 x 4-inch loaf pan. With fork, blend butter and brown sugar; add milk, flour and baking powder.
    Blend thoroughly; add dates and nuts.
    Mix to form soft, slightly sticky dough.
    Do not roll and do not stir once it is mixed.
    Remove from bowl and drop into pan atop brown sugar syrup.
    Bake 45 minutes.
    Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
