Ingredients

2 c. sugar
4 c. plain flour
1 c. Crisco
2 c. blackberry jam
1 c. pear preserves
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda, dissolved in milk
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 lb. raisins
6 eggs, separated
Preparation

Save out 2 egg whites for icing.
Beat 4 egg whites and fold into cake batter last.
Pour into 3 (9-inch) layer pans.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 to 45 minutes.
