Molasses Taffy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. light molasses
    1/4 c. water
    2 tsp. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1/2 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Butter sides of 2-quart kettle.
    Add first 3 ingredients.
    Heat slowly to a boil, stirring constantly.
    Add vinegar (white).
    Cook to light crack stage, 268\u00b0.
    Remove from heat.
    Add butter and sift in soda.
    Stir to mix.
    Turn out on buttered plate (do not scrape). Turn edges to center.
    With buttered fingers, pull as warm as you can handle.
    Cut in quarters.
    Pull and clip with shears.
    Wrap in wax paper.
