Ingredients

2 c. milk
pinch of salt
2/3 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. heaping cornstarch
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Heat milk and salt (just hot, not boiling).
Mix sugar, cornstarch and egg with just enough milk to make a thin batter. Pour slowly into hot milk, stirring as you pour, and bring to a good boil.
Add vanilla and stir.
If it gets too thick, add a little cold milk and stir.
