Applesauce-Red Hot Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. red hot candies
    1 c. boiling water
    1 (3 oz.) pkg. lemon Jell-O
    1 1/2 c. applesauce
    2 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
    1/2 c. finely chopped celery
    1/3 c. chopped pecans
    1/3 to 1/2 c. mayonnaise
Preparation
    Dissolve red hots in boiling water (this takes time).
    Stir until all are dissolved.
    Add Jell-O to hot candy water and dissolve, then add the applesauce (I use Musselman's).
    Mix well, then ladle half the mixture into a 6 x 10-inch glass pan and refrigerate until set.
