Date Nut Chocolate Chip Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. chopped dates
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. soda
1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 c. flour
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. nuts

Preparation

Soak dates, boiling water and soda.
Let cool.
Cream shortening, sugar and eggs.
Add first mixture cooled.
Sift remaining ingredients and add.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 minutes in 9 x 13-inch pan.
