Sour Meat And Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    beef chuck, rump or round without bone (4 lb.)
    3 c. vinegar
    3 c. water
    1 Tbsp. pickling spice
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Soak meat in vinegar and water to cover spices a week.
    Drain well, saving liquid.
    Brown meat in fat in heavy kettle.
    Add salt and 1 1/2 cups of reserved liquid.
    Cover and simmer slowly for 2 1/2 hours.
