Feathery Chocolate Layer Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 c. sifted cake flour
    2 1/4 tsp. Calumet baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. butter or other shortening
    1 1/3 c. sugar
    3 eggs, unbeaten
    2/3 c. milk
    3/4 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 tsp. almond extract
Preparation
    Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder and salt and sift three times.
    Cream shortening thoroughly; add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy.
    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Add flour, alternately with milk, a small amount at a time, beating after each addition until smooth.
    Add flavorings.
    Bake in 2 greased 9-inch layer pans in moderate (375\u00b0) oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
    Spread chocolate frosting between layers and over cake.
