7-Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    iceberg lettuce, shredded
    1 can water chestnuts, sliced
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas
    red onion, chopped
    shredded Cheddar cheese
    chopped tomato
    chopped cooked bacon (1 pkg.)
    sliced hard-boiled eggs
    mayonnaise
    sugar
Preparation
    Layer lettuce, water chestnuts, peas and onion in order, in a glass bowl.
    Cover with a layer of mayonnaise.
    Sprinkle about 2 tablespoons sugar on top.
    Refrigerate overnight.
