Tortilla Soup(Serves 6 To 8) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. (12) small corn tortillas
    peanut oil
    1 medium onion, diced
    3 (14 1/2 oz.) cans chicken broth
    2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
    1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, diced
    1/4 tsp. garlic powder
    dash of hot pepper sauce
    3 c. grated Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    Cut tortillas into chips.
    Deep fry chips in oil, heated to 375\u00b0.
    Add chips in batches and fry until golden brown.
    Drain well.
    Heat small amount of oil in large saucepan.
    Add onions and saute until clear.
    Add broth, tomato sauce, tomatoes, garlic powder and hot pepper sauce; simmer for 20 minutes.
    Place a few chips in individual soup bowls.
    Fill 3/4 full with soup and top generously with cheese.
    Serve with remaining tortilla chips.
