Mom'S Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced cucumbers
    6 medium onions, sliced thin
    1 green pepper, cut in thin strips
    1 sweet red pepper, cut in thin strips
    1/3 c. salt
    3 c. vinegar
    5 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Wash cucumbers, slice thin and add onions and peppers.
    Layer this with salt and ice.
    Let stand 3 hours.
    Add ice as needed. Drain well.
    Combine vinegar, sugar and spices.
    Let come to a boil and add cucumbers.
    Boil 15 to 20 minutes.
    Seal in jars.
    Makes 7 pints.
