Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 lb. cucumbers
    2 c. household lime
    2 gal. water
    2 qt. vinegar
    9 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. salt
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers
    crosswise.
    Place in a mixture of lime and water
    in
    enamel
    or
    pottery container.
    Let stand overnight. Remove from
    lime
    water and wash through 3 changes of fresh, cold
    water.
    Mix
    vinegar,
    sugar
    and
    salt.
    Place drained cucumbers in mixture and let stand for 3 hours.
    Bring to a boil for
    30 minutes.
    Place in hot, sterilized jars and seal.
