Cinnamon Stick Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 lb. cucumbers (12 large cucumbers)
    1 c. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. alum
    1 oz. red food coloring
    2 c. vinegar
    2 c. water
    8 c. sugar
    8 sticks cinnamon
    14 oz. red hots (candies)
    Mrs. Wages pickling lime
    celery seed
    dill, picked fresh
    pickling spice
    sugar (5 c.)
    Heinz white vinegar (4 c.)
    cucumbers, peeled and sliced
    garlic cloves
Preparation
    Day 1:
    Mix 1 cup lime with 1 gallon water.
    Pour over cucumbers and soak 12 hours.
    Stir often.
