Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe

3/4 c. unsweetened cocoa
1/3 c. sugar
1 1/4 c. milk
2 c. sifted cake flour
1 c. sugar
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening
3 large eggs
1 1/4 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Heat oven to 350\u00b0. Grease 2 (9 x 1 1/2-inch) layer cake pans; line bottoms with wax paper. Mix cocoa, 1/3 cup sugar and milk in medium-size saucepan. Heat over low heat until bubbles appear around edge of pan, stirring constantly.
Cool to room temperature. Sift flour, 1 cup sugar, soda and salt into large bowl of mixer. Add shortening, eggs, cocoa mixture and vanilla. Beat on low speed just until ingredients are moistened, scraping bowl frequently. Beat on medium speed 3 minutes. Pour into pans. Bake 30 minutes.
Cool 5 minutes. Remove from pans. Remove wax paper.
