Calumet One Egg Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sifted Swans Down cake flour
    2 tsp. Calumet baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    4 Tbsp. butter
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg (unbeaten)
    3/4 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Sift flour once; measure and add baking powder and salt.
    Sift together three times; cream butter thoroughly.
    Add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy.
    Add egg and beat very thoroughly.
    Add flour, alternately with milk, a small amount at a time.
    Beat after each addition until smooth.
    Add vanilla.
    Bake in a greased pan, 8 x 8 x 2-inch, in moderate oven (350\u00b0) for 50 minutes.
