Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    gal. cucumbers, washed and sliced thin
    8 onions, sliced thin
    2 green peppers, sliced thin
    2 cups white vinegar
    1 cup water
    1 qt. sugar
    1/2 tsp. mustard seed
    1 tsp. mixed spices
Preparation
    Bring to a boil.
    Add cucumbers and boil about 3 minutes. Pack pickles solidly into clean jars.
    Add 1 tsp. salt and 1/2 onion sliced to each qt.
    Cover with boiling syrup and seal at once.
