Ingredients

5 apples
1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
2/3 c. brown sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 c. water
1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
2/3 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Wash apples and cut into quarters.
Pare and core them.
Put sugar and water in a saucepan and heat; when syrup boils, add apples.
Cover and boil gently until apples are tender.
Remove apples from syrup; use skimmer or slotted spoon.
Place fruit in dishes for serving.
