Aunt Jennie'S Corn Pone - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. Crisco
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. salt
    1 qt. buttermilk
    2 c. cornmeal
    2 c. flour
    1 Tbsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch cake pan.
    In mixing bowl, beat together sugar and Crisco until blended; add eggs and salt.
    Beat until blended; add buttermilk and baking soda.
    Mix slightly on low speed; add cornmeal and flour.
    Mix on low speed until dry ingredients are moist.
    Beat on high speed with hand mixer for 2 minutes.
    Pour into pan.
    Bake for 50 minutes or until toothpick comes out dry.
