Kentucky Fruitcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (15 oz.) pkg. golden raisins
    1 1/2 c. water
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1 1/2 c. chopped pecans
    1/2 lb. candied green cherries, chopped
    1/2 lb. candied red cherries, chopped
    1 lb. candied pineapple, chopped
    2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour, divided
    3 eggs, beaten
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. ground cloves
    1/2 tsp. ground allspice
    1/2 c. bourbon (optional)
    candied red cherries, sliced
    sliced almonds (optional)
Preparation
    Combine first 3 ingredients in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.
    Add butter and remove from heat.
    Cool and drain, reserving liquid in a large mixing bowl. Set liquid and raisins aside.
