Norwegian Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. chopped cherries (maraschino)
    3 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 c. milk
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 c. raisins
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    lukewarm water
Preparation
    Heat butter and milk until butter is melted.
    Cool to lukewarm.
    Soften yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water in mixing bowl. Add sugar, salt, raisins, cherries and egg.
    Add butter and milk mixture; mix well.
    Gradually add flour to form stiff dough.
    Beat well after each addition.
    Let rise in warm place until doubled in bulk.
    Turn out on floured surface.
    Toss lightly until dough is covered with flour and not too sticky.
    Divide into 3 parts and place in 3 well-greased, 1 pound coffee cans.
    Cover; let rise until double in size.
    Bake in moderate oven at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
