Cabbage-Burger Bake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 small head cabbage, chopped
6 slices bacon
1 medium onion, chopped
1 c. uncooked rice
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 qt. tomato juice
1 pkg. spaghetti sauce mix
Preparation

Chop cabbage (about 8 cups).
Spread half in shallow baking dish, 13 x 9 x 2-inch.
Saute bacon just until fat starts to cook out.
Remove and drain; set aside.
Stir onion and rice into drippings in pan.
Cook, stirring constantly, until onion is soft and rice is lightly browned.
Spoon over cabbage in baking dish. Brown hamburger and sprinkle over rice mixture.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Top with remaining cabbage.
Heat tomato juice with spaghetti sauce mix to boiling.
Pour over cabbage, stirring so sauce flows to bottom.
Top with bacon; cover.
Bake at 400\u00b0 for 50 minutes.
Uncover and bake 10 minutes more to crisp bacon. Makes 6 servings.
