Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 gal. sliced cucumbers
10 medium sliced onions
2 bell peppers
1/2 c. salt
2 trays ice
5 c. vinegar
5 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. turmeric
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
2 Tbsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. celery seed
Preparation

Place cucumbers, onions and peppers in large container; sprinkle with salt.
Add ice and cover.
Let stand 3 hours; drain well.
Add remaining ingredients.
Place over low heat.
Keep turning over pickles until mixture reaches scalding (do not boil). Put in hot jars and seal.
Let stand 48 hours before eating. Makes 8 pints.
