Westhaven Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 pkg. dates
1 c. water
1 tsp. soda
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt

Preparation

Cut dates in pieces and add to water and soda.
Boil and let cool.
Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
Sift flour, cocoa and salt.
Add sifted ingredients and date mixture alternately to the cream mixture.
