Layered Lettuce Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce
    1 c. diced celery
    4 eggs, hard-cooked and chopped
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas, drained (raw)
    1/2 c. green pepper
    1 purple onion, diced
    1 lb. bacon, fried and diced
    2 c. mayonnaise
    4 Tbsp. sugar
    4 oz. Cheddar cheese, grated
Preparation
    Tear lettuce into small pieces.
    Put in a 9 x 12-inch glass dish.
    Layer rest of ingredients in order given.
    Add sugar to mayonnaise; spread over top as you would frosting.
    Top with grated cheese.
