Open Crock Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    dill
    2 qt. water
    2 c. vinegar
    1/3 c. pickling salt
    1/2 tsp. powdered alum
    1/2 tsp. mixed pickling spice
Preparation
    Boil together the water, vinegar, pickling salt, alum and pickling spice.
    Put dill on bottom, in between and on top of 5-quart ice cream pail.
    I put the brine on hot.
    They are ready to eat in a few days.
