Shrimp Gumbo - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 lb. chopped bacon slices
    2 c. chopped okra
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1/3 c. chopped green pepper
    1/2 c. chopped celery
    4 c. hot water
    2 large tomatoes, peeled and chopped
    1 clove garlic, mashed
    1 bay leaf
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/8 tsp. thyme
    1 lb. shrimp, shelled and deveined
    rice
Preparation
    Fry bacon until crisp.
    Add okra, onion, green pepper and celery; saute 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
    Add water, tomatoes, garlic, bay leaf, salt, pepper and thyme.
    Cover and simmer 1 hour.
    Add shrimp last 10 minutes of cooking.
    Serve hot with large spoonful of rice for each serving.
    Makes 1 1/2 quarts.
