Fancy Baked Apples - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    12 tart apples
    2 1/2 c. tiny Amaretto cookies, crushed (not pulverized)
    1/2 c. slivered almonds
    1 stick butter, at room temperature
    1 1/2 c. sugar (brown or white)
    1 c. dry white wine
    1 1/2 c. water
    1 c. heavy cream, whipped
    mint leaves
    crystallized fruits
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 400\u00b0.
    Wash and core apples, taking care not to pierce the bottoms.
    Prick skins every inch or so with the tip of a sharp knife.
    Mix cookies and almonds with butter and pack into apples.
    Place apples in baking dish and sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sugar over each.
    Add wine and water to the pan. Place pan on upper shelf of oven and bake for 45 minutes.
    Transfer apples to serving or storage dish.
    Pour pan juices into saucepan. Simmer over high heat until juices have become syrupy.
    Pour over apples.
    Apples will keep in the refrigerator for 3 days.
