Ingredients

1 c. brown sugar
2 c. boiling water
1 Tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. milk
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. chopped pecans
Preparation

Pour boiling water over 1 cup brown sugar in pan you bake pudding it.
In a bowl, cream together the next 6 ingredients.
Add the dates and pecans.
Pour this batter on top of the sugar water (do not stir).
Bake in slow oven, about 325\u00b0, for 1 1/2 hours. Serve with whipped cream.
