Layered Beans And Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. thin sliced onions
    2 c. chopped green pepper
    3 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. minced garlic
    2 (15 oz.) cans red kidney beans, drained
    1 c. Burgundy
    1 bay leaf
    2 Tbsp. tomato paste
    1 lb. smoked sausage, thinly sliced
    3 c. cooked rice
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Saute onions and green pepper in butter.
    Stir in garlic and beans.
    In another pan, bring wine and bay leaf to a boil.
    Stir in tomato paste.
    Layer bean mixture, sausage and rice in a 13 x 9-inch casserole.
    Salt, if desired, and pepper each layer.
    Remove bay leaf; pour wine mixture over top of casserole.
    Bake, uncovered, for 20 minutes.
    Uncover; bake 20 minutes longer.
