Candied Sweet Potatoes With Dates And Pecans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. small sweet potatoes
    3 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
    1/3 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
    3 Tbsp. water
    3 Tbsp. brandy or 3 Tbsp. water (if preferred)
    1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/3 c. dates, pitted and chopped
    1/3 c. pecan pieces
Preparation
    Cut potatoes into 1/2-inch slices; peel slices and cut each into quarters.
    Saute potatoes in butter in a large, heavy skillet 15 minutes over medium heat.
    Add next 5 ingredients; cover and simmer 15 minutes.
    Add dates; recover and cook over medium heat 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    Transfer to a serving dish; stir in pecans.
    Serve immediately.
    Yields 6 servings.
