Christmas Sugar Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 sticks butter
    3 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    2 tsp. vanilla
    5 c. self-rising flour
    milk (if necessary; small amount at time)
    decorative sugars, beads, candies, etc.
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar, adding sugar, a little at a time.
    Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
    Add vanilla. Add flour, one cup at a time, sifting flour all around the bowl as you are mixing.
    Batter should be sort of stiff, but not too stiff.
    Add milk, a small amount at a time.
