Lemon Nut Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

grated rind of 1 lemon
6 Tbsp. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. nut meats, chopped
Preparation

Cream together the rind, shortening and sugar.
Add the eggs, one at a time, and milk; mix well.
Add sifted flour, baking powder and salt.
Fold in nut meats.
Pour into lightly greased and floured loaf pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 50 to 60 minutes, or until done.
After removing from oven and while bread is hot, pour over the following mixture of 1/3 cup sugar and the juice of 1 lemon.
Remove bread from pan after topping has thoroughly soaked in and bread has cooled somewhat.
Wrap in foil; store in refrigerator.
