Caramel Icing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda
    pinch of salt
    1 stick butter
Preparation
    Combine all but butter and cook at high heat until brown and spins a thread.
    Add butter and stir well.
    Pour over Jam Cake (recipe in this book).
