Springerle'S - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lbs. 10 x sugar or 4 1/2 c. granulated sugar
    1/2 lb. butter
    2 tsp. baking powder
    8 eggs
    2 lbs. flour (about 8 cups)
    anise seed (about 2 tsp.)
Preparation
    Beat eggs 15 minutes, add sugar and beat 15 minutes more.
    Add shortening (butter) continue beating 15 minutes more.
    Mix in 7 cups sifted flour; the other 1 cup is used for rolling out the batter.
    Add in the baking powder and Anise seeds.
    On a floured surface roll out the batter not thin.
    Use a Springerle rolling pin.
    Cut cookies and let stand over night before baking.
    Bake 300\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
    Grease cookie sheet.
