Cherry-Apple Jam - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (16 oz.) pkg. frozen unsweetened, pitted, tart red cherries
    1/4 c. lemon juice
    5 c. sugar
    1 medium apple, cored and finely chopped (about 1 c.)
    1 (1 3/4 oz.) pkg. regular powdered fruit pectin
Preparation
    Chop cherries fine, reserving juice.
    This will make 3 cups chopped fruit.
    Combine cherries, apple and lemon juice.
    Add pectin and mix well.
    Bring to a boil, stirring often.
    Boil hard, uncovered, for 1 minute.
    Remove from heat, quickly skim off foam with a metal spoon.
    Put into hot clean half pint jars.
    Process in boiling water bath for 15 minutes.
    Start timing when water begins to boil.
    Makes about 5 half pints.
    Contains 36 calories per 2 teaspoons.
