Amana Sauerbraten - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (5 lb.) top round roast
    1 c. cider vinegar
    2 1/4 c. water
    1 lemon, cut up
    1 medium onion, diced
    2 bay leaves
    1 1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. whole black peppercorns
    1/2 tsp. whole cloves
    2 c. water
    1/2 c. flour
    1/3 c. sugar
    2 gingersnaps, crushed
    2 tsp. Kitchen Bouquet
Preparation
    Place roast in stock pot of roughly the same size.
    In another pan, combine vinegar, 2 1/4 cups water, lemon, onion and spices. Bring to a boil.
    Pour over roast, cool and refrigerate for 3 days, basting and turning often.
