Tomato Pie - cooking recipe

4 large, ripe tomatoes or enough to fill crust
1 (9-inch) prebaked pie crust
salt and pepper to taste
1 c. mayonnaise
1 c. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
1 Tbsp. chopped chives
1 Tbsp. chopped basil
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Peel and seed the tomatoes and slice 3/4-inch thick.
Put enough tomatoes in the crust to fill, but don't overflow.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Mix together the mayonnaise, cheese, chives and basil, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste; spread over the tomatoes.
Bake for about 20 minutes or until the topping turns golden brown and pie is bubbling.
Cool slightly before serving.
