Swedish Cardamon Coffee Cake - cooking recipe

1 cake yeast
1/2 c. warm water
1 tsp. sugar
1 c. milk, scalded
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs, beaten
4 to 5 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. cardamon
Preparation

Scald milk; add sugar, salt and shortening.
Cool to lukewarm. Add enough flour to make a thick batter; beat until smooth.
Add yeast mixture and eggs; beat well.
Add enough flour to make a soft dough.
