Savory Spaghetti Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 large onion, chopped
    2 cans (15 oz.) tomato sauce
    1 garlic clove, minced
    1 bay leaf
    1 Tbsp. minced fresh basil or 1 tsp. dry basil
    2 tsp. minced fresh oregano or 3/4 tsp. dry oregano
    2 tsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/2 to 1 tsp. salt
    hot cooked spaghetti
Preparation
    In a Dutch oven, cook ground beef and onion until meat is brown and onion is tender; drain.
    Add the next 8 ingredients; bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
    Remove the bay leaf.
    Serve over spaghetti.
    Yields 4 to 6 servings (about 1 quart).
