Chow Chow - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. onions, chopped
    1 medium cabbage
    12 green tomatoes
    6 green peppers
    6 red peppers
    1/2 c. salt
    6 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1-1/2 tsp. turmeric
    3 c. cider vinegar
    2 c. water
Preparation
    Chop vegetables (coarse).
    Sprinkle with salt.
    Let stand over night.
    Drain and rinse.
    Combine remaining ingredients. Pour over vegetable mixture.
    Heat to boil.
    Simmer 3 minutes. Fill hot sterilized jars and seal.
    Yield:
    about 8 pints.
