Cheese Strata - cooking recipe
Ingredients

12 slices day old bread, remove crusts
1/2 lb. Cheddar cheese, thinly sliced
4 eggs
2 1/2 c. milk
2 tsp. mustard
1 Tbsp. minced onion
1/8 tsp. freshly ground pepper
Preparation

Grease a 12 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish. Arrange 6 slices of bread in it.
Cover with cheese slices.
You can add anything else you want to, such as crumbled bacon, pimento, spinach, diced cooked vegetables, tuna, meat, shrimp, diced ham, etc. (leftovers work great!).
Cover with remaining 6 slices of bread. Beat the eggs and add rest of ingredients.
Pour over bread.
Refrigerate at least 1 hour, can be overnight.
Bake, uncovered, at 375\u00b0 for 50 minutes until puffed and browned.
Let sit for about 10 minutes before cutting.
