Quick Cherry Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (18.5 oz.) box yellow cake mix
    1 (16 oz.) can pitted red tart cherries
    1/4 c. sugar
    2 tsp. cornstarch
    1/3 c. water
    1/2 tsp. almond extract
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease and flour a 13 x 9-inch pan. Prepare cake mix according to package directions; pour batter into pan.
    Drain cherries, reserving liquid.
    Place cherries on top of batter.
    Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
