Grandma'S Vegetable Beef Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 beef shanks with bone, wash and trim off excess tissue and fat
    3 stalks celery, diced
    1 large onion, diced or more (if desired)
    8 medium potatoes, diced (add more, if desired)
    4 turnips, diced
    1 can beef broth
    1 can vegetable broth
    salt to taste
    pepper to taste
    allspice to taste
Preparation
    Cover beef shanks, celery and onions in water; simmer in covered kettle.
    Cool.
    Cut up and trim meat.
    Remove fat from top of stock.
    Dice vegetables and add to broth; simmer (do not overcook).
    Meat will cook too much if added too soon.
    Add spices to taste.
