Pear Harlequin - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 peck firm pears, chopped
    2 unpeeled oranges, thinly sliced
    1 (15 oz.) can crushed pineapple
    sugar
    3 small bottles maraschino cherries
Preparation
    Combine pears, oranges and pineapple in bowl.
    Weigh fruit. Add sugar equal to 2/3 of the weight of fruit.
    Mix well.
    Let stand overnight.
    Combine with cherries in saucepan.
    Cook until pears are tender.
    Spoon into hot sterilized 1-pint jars.
    Seal with 2-piece lids.
    Process in hot water bath for 30 minutes.
    Cool upside-down for 5 minutes.
    Yield:
    6 pints.
