Hoppin' John - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 slices bacon
    1/4 c. chopped onion
    2 (10 oz.) pkg. black-eyed peas
    1/2 c. rice
    2 c. water
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Dice bacon; add onion and fry over medium heat until bacon is almost crisp and onions are clear.
    Add frozen peas and rice, then water.
    Cover and simmer over low heat.
    Cook 20 minutes, or until rice is tender.
    Salt and pepper to taste.
