Old-Fashioned Chow-Chow - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. ripe tomatoes
    1 gal. cabbage
    1 gal. onions
    12 sweet peppers
    9 hot peppers
    1 c. salt
    3 lb. sugar
    1/2 gal. vinegar
    1/2 box pickling spices
Preparation
    Combine first 6 ingredients.
    Let stand 2 hours.
    Drain off. Add sugar, vinegar and pickling spices.
    Simmer 40 minutes.
    Put in jars and seal.
