Mother'S Best Fudge Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted
    1/2 c. milk
    1 well beaten egg
    2/3 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 eggs
    2 c. cake flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. milk
Preparation
    Combine chocolate, 1/2 cup milk, well beaten egg and 2/3 cup sugar in saucepan; cook over low heat until thickened, stirring constantly.
    Cool.
    Thoroughly cream shortening, 1 cup sugar and vanilla.
    Beat in eggs 1 at a time.
    Sift dry ingredients together; add alternately with 2/3 cup milk.
    Blend in chocolate mixture. Pour into 2 paper (wax) lined 9 x 1 1/2-inch round pans.
    Bake in moderate oven, 350\u00b0, for 25 to 30 minutes.
    Frost with Chocolate Satin Frosting.
