Good Basic Corn Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. yellow or white cornmeal
1 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar (optional)
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 egg
1/4 c. vegetable shortening or butter
Preparation

Sift together all dry ingredients into mixing bowl.
Add remaining ingredients.
Beat until fairly smooth, about 1 minute. Bake in greased 8-inch square pan.
Bake in preheated oven at 425\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
