Crispy Corn Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. corn meal
    1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 egg, beaten
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/4 c. shortening
Preparation
    Combine first 6 ingredients and mix well.
    Beat egg and buttermilk and add to cornmeal mixture.
    Stir well.
    Do not beat. Melt shortening in a 425\u00b0 skillet.
    Pour hot shortening into batter and pour batter immediately into hot skillet.
    Bake at 425\u00b0 for 20 minutes.
